Lori Vrba Featured in Don't Take Pictures

Lori Vrba is in the news again, this time with a beautiful article written by Kat Kiernan for Don't Take Pictures Magazine.

                                                                            Lori Vrba, Head Case Study

pigment print, vintage photographs, found objects

                                                                                12 1/2 x 9 3/4 x 4 inches

“In these boxes, Vrba tells an enigmatic story of her life using found objects—feathers, discarded doll’s hands, letters, and other oddities—arranging them into aesthetically pleasing displays. These pieces are exhibited alongside her equally personal black and white photographs.” — Kat Kiernan

Don’t Take Pictures is a biannual print, online & tablet-ready magazine. The title, Don’t Take Pictures, references the language of modern photography. Over the years, the term “taking pictures” has begun to be replaced with “making photographs.” The change signifies a distinction between the widespread use of cameras in the modern world and the more systematic, thoughtful process of creating photographic art. At Don’t Take Pictures, we strive to celebrate the creativity involved with the making of photographs.
